  • A tight weave ensures good wind resistance with good sun protection at a UPF rating of 50+
  • The fabric is quick drying and has a durable water repellant treatment to the outside of the garment. Hence the trousers will shed a light shower whilst your on the move.

I've been looking to find the perfect walking and everyday trousers for some while. I'm not a strenuous fell walker, just wanted trousers that I could live in, would be comfortable on my gentle hikes, and still look good when I go down the pub. A week ago in Jurassic Outdoors in Swanage I spotted these Sprayway Compass Versa (the Versa bit is important), bought them and have worn them daily since. So naturally a second pair was needed and here we are! For a retired, slightly paunchy bloke the fit is perfect but I suspect even trimmer tummies would be flattered as it is the excellent stretch that make them such a great fit on me. The material is fairly heavyweight - definitely autumn/spring weight, at least. Yet, I've not found them over-warm on these warm and muggy summer days. Pockets - placement is everything. Before these trousers I would stick my phone in the knee pockets of whatever cargo hiking trousers I was wearing because it would dig in if in a hip pocket, but the angled hip pockets on the Versa means my phone naturally slips into one leaving the knee pockets free for use when needed. In my case this is a real advantage - the higher phone means my wired headphones cable no longer pulls a bit tight. I thought the rear pocket D ring was a silly idea until I realised the pocket is high enough to carry keys but with them still above the sitty-down bit! So that's where my keys now live. The trousers feel premium, mesh pockets with solid linings at the base to extend their life, a fleece waist-band to help with the fit, even a better belt than some. On first wearing them I did wonder whether I might feel the fabric a bit coarse or scratchy but a few minutes soon answered that as "No!". Oh, and I also like the fact the Sprayway logo is discrete - I'm not walking down the street wearing the mobile advertising boards that some clothing brands insist upon. The sizing is accurate but a word of warning - do check leg sizing, the stated leg sizes are accurate but Short, Regular, Long are all an inch or so shorter than some other brands. A shout out to Agoora, ordered mid-afternoon and they were dispatched same day, arriving by Royal Mail two days later. Easy to order, only criticism is that the Agoora site lists waist sizes as Small, Medium, Large etc but Sprayway actually have them sized so my order of Medium was a 34". The Agoora site does have a size chart and it did indeed tell me that by ordering Medium I would be getting the required 34" but since the trousers are inch sized then changing the site to reflect this might be a slight help. Trying to decide whether I NEED a third pair! Oh, and did I mention that Agoora were a heck of a price, especially considering free postage. My earlier shop bought pair were quite a few quid more even with discount.
